  1. Growth in liquid Medium: E. coli strains EP432 pUC18 (control) and EP432 pUCHelNhaD (NhaD) were grown at 0% 1) and 3% (500 mM) salinity (w/v) in LB medium and MM63 minimal medium. Growth rates, duration of lag phase and maximum OD(600 nm) depending on culture and strain are summarized. Relative growth rate is given for complemented strain compared to the control at same salinity.
  2. 1) Due to impurities of media components there are still traces of NaCl (<0.01%, 2 mM) in the medium.
