Growth in liquid Medium: E. coli strains EP432 pUC18 (open, control) and EP432 pUCHelNhaD (solid, NhaD) were grown at 0% ¹⁾ (circles) and 3% (500 mM, squares) salinity (w/v) in A) LB medium and B) MM63 minimal medium. Additionally growth data for XL1 Blue (WT, triangles) are shown for 0%. ¹⁾ Due to impurities of media components there are still traces of NaCl (<0.01%, 2 mM) in the medium.
