  1. Quantitative PCR was used to assess H. perezi in DNA extracted from environmental samples from 13 locations in Indian River Inlet, DE (Figure 3) Samples were collected at indicated dates in July 2008 and 2009. In July 2009, each site was sampled in triplicate, as indicated by suffixes a, b, and c. Results are reported as H. perezi ribosomal gene copy number per g sediment and gene copies per L of water. Note that 12.09.08 sediment samples were collected but were all negative.
