Percentage of proteins that H. boliviensis obtained from other bacteria, halophilic archaea and thermophilic archaea by horizontal gene transfer (HGT), and proteins that evolved among proteins of other Proteobacteria. Some proteins of H. boliviensis did not form a cluster with any of the proteins of the microorganisms used as reference. The proteins analyzed were related to COGs of carbon transport and metabolism as listed in Additional file 1: Table S1.
